Now available! Yoga 170 apparel

I’m so excited to announce that our Yoga 170 apparel is now available! We have shirts, tanks, lightweight hoodies, and beanies at the studio and also available online. Everything is extremely soft and unbelievably comfy!

The design was done by local artist, Heather Vitticore. Heather practices here at Yoga 170 and I wanted to extend a very special thank you to her and her inspiring story for the enso circle that is part of it all. Such an authentic representation of our amazing Yoga 170 community. Please take a moment to read her full story below. ❤️

In Zen Buddhism, there is a sacred symbol known as an "enso" which can be translated to mean the 'Circle of Togetherness'. This circle represents the totality of the Universe, yet at the same time, the emptiness which is understood not as the source of nothing, but as the source of everything. When creating an enso, the artist must let go of the idea of perfection, painting the circle with one continuous brushstroke within a single inhale and exhale. A meditative mindset, that doesn't leave room for thought or judgement.

There are so many beautiful connections between the enso circle and what I have found in my own personal yoga practice at Yoga170. The sense of support and togetherness within the studio walls. Everyone collectively, and yet individually, striving to meet our mind and body's needs each time we choose to step onto our mats. Learning to accept and listen to those needs, pushing aside our own judgements and desires for perfection. The practice of having control over our breath, and yet realizing that when we let go of that control, the breath will still continue on.

As an artist whose work tends to be very meticulous and controlled, it was a wonderful challenge to try to release that desire for perfection to paint the enso for this design. My hope is that the symbolism of the enso circle will resonate with you within your yoga practice and beyond. Find beauty in imperfection. Acceptance and grace in what you can not control. And gratitude for the space within you that is not empty, but the source of everything.
