Important studio updates

Hi everyone, I am writing to give you an update about the recently released NYS guidelines for masks and distancing and how we will be adjusting our policies at Yoga 170.

I realize that the updated guidelines from the CDC / NYS are big changes and that some people are super excited, and others are more cautiously optimistic. While I believe it's a very positive step forward, I also want to strike a balance between those that are cautiously optimistic and those that have few concerns. Our #1 goal is to provide a yoga environment that is trusted, comfortable, and welcoming for people of all ages and all backgrounds. I see this mutual trust between all of us as a very important element to our updated guidelines.

From California back to her roots. Welcome Lindsey!

I am excited to welcome a new instructor and a COZY new class to Yoga 170! Please join me in welcoming Lindsey Miller, who has recently relocated from California back to her Fairport roots with her husband and three children.

Lindsey brings with her many years of yoga instructor experience and will be teaching a new Sunday evening class called Sunday Soul — think cozy candles, great music, and a perfect way to get ready for your week. She will be teaching the 5:15pm Thursday Vinyasa Flow class.

If you are a student of Molly’s, or are connected with her, you know that she has been planning on moving with her husband to the beautiful state of Vermont.

I’ve been very fortunate over the last few years to learn from Molly, work with her, and to be able to call her a close friend. I will truly miss Molly but I am happy that she is starting this new chapter for her and her family!

Walk through YOGA 170 with Ali — a video tour of our safety updates

We held our first few studio classes last week after being closed for 165 days and the feelings were ALL there. The familiar smells of the studio — lavender and lemon — welcomed us all back. The cross breeze from the canal was sweeping through the studio. Soft lights were glowing around us. And music filled the air. We were all distanced, safe, content and there was a feeling of community that we all had missed so much.

And I felt myself wishing that I could capture that feeling so you could see how the studio is set up and how it all works.

Brief reopening update

I am writing to you tonight to provide a brief update on our reopening plans. As you may know, NYS released reopening guidelines earlier this week for yoga studios. The good news is that we are well prepared and have already met most of the state's requirements. However, the guidelines from this week contain two brand new requirements that we are now actively working on. 

I am hopeful and VERY excited that we will have in person classes back in our studio at some point next week!  Please stay tuned for details on days / times of our first classes.

We are thinking ahead to the policies that will make our studio as safe as possible when we reopen. As part of this, we will be asking students to bring their own mat and props with them to class (no sharing of equipment).
