Our promise to you this year: Yoga for the body, presence for the mind, peace for the soul. This is our promise to you as we hold hope, optimism, and light for new beginnings in 2021.
So with this, I’ll start with a few exciting updates — all of which are coming soon! I’m really excited about what lies ahead and I hope that they provide you with more opportunities to grow your own practice as well!

I have to admit, it will be nice to flip the calendar to 2021 later this week. Looking at the new year as a positive, fresh start? Yes please!
At the studio, we have a special New Year’s Day event this Friday and are open all week! The studio is warm, cozy and inviting — we are here for you whether you are seeking an active flow, candlelit ambiance, or a soothing, mindful class.
Holiday week schedule
I would like to take a moment and send my heartfelt wishes to you and your families for a wonderful holiday. While I know our holidays are all a bit different this year, I hope that however you are celebrating, you are surrounded with peace, good health, and love.
At the studio this week, we are celebrating the Winter Solstice with a cozy Restorative Yoga class on Monday night (6:30pm). And next Sunday, we are offering a special Yin + Restorative + Meditation class (12pm). Details on this week’s schedule and what’s coming up — all within!
New Year’s Day class + Yin Yoga in December
I am writing to you while sitting next to the fire and my kids are reading next to me. It’s not ALWAYS this calm in our house, but for this moment, I’m grateful. While the pandemic has brought us many, many challenges, it has also been a really good reminder of how important it is to slow life down. To appreciate these small moments. And to take good care of ourselves.
This is the intent behind all of our classes this month — to slow down and take good care of yourself. Especially the special classes that we are so excited to bring to you!

It’s a new week! New start. Fresh perspective. New opportunity. My goal is to embrace this week with perseverance and have grace for whatever I can accomplish.

Special Barre class — Sunday!
We are teaming up with our friends from ROC FIT Collective this weekend to bring a special Barre class to Yoga 170! Whether you are new to barre or have tried it before, it’s a great chance to give it a try. Yoga 170 passes apply but space is limited!
Meditation returns to Yoga 170
I’m excited to let you know that we have added 2 new Meditation options for you — intended to bring awareness, reflection and peace to your practice.
Meditation is now available In-studio as part of our Tuesday’s Hatha Yoga class at 5:30pm (new time) and also Online as a short guided meditation. We will start with these 2 options and expand to more if everyone would like!

“Keep peace in the mind. Strength in the body. And love in the heart.”
Your practice doesn’t expect you to show up happy. It doesn’t mind if you are put together or if you are a mess. You can arrive with a jumbled mind and a messy heart. Your practice could care less if you can touch your toes or meditate for hours. It simply understands that however you show up, you are present. And deserve to enjoy that moment.
From California back to her roots. Welcome Lindsey!
I am excited to welcome a new instructor and a COZY new class to Yoga 170! Please join me in welcoming Lindsey Miller, who has recently relocated from California back to her Fairport roots with her husband and three children.
Lindsey brings with her many years of yoga instructor experience and will be teaching a new Sunday evening class called Sunday Soul — think cozy candles, great music, and a perfect way to get ready for your week. She will be teaching the 5:15pm Thursday Vinyasa Flow class.
One student’s story + weekly schedule
I’ve been thinking a lot about strength lately. That mental and physical notion of being strong, even when it seems impossibly hard.
I wanted to share a story with you from a student (permission given to share). She wrote to me with such gratitude and shared how she had always felt totally overwhelmed by the thought of yoga — where to begin, where to go, where would she feel comfortable?
Columbus Day classes and this week’s schedule
Who has dug out their favorite fleece and cozy socks? I’m cherishing the hikes, the colors, the smells, the leaves (until I have to rake them) and this cozy time of year.
I’m also really aware of my health and self care. I’m grateful for every opportunity to practice — at the studio with you or at home with my family. Some days, yoga brings me more energy. Some days, it just gives me a “moment”. But I always feel better in the end.

Meet our new Hatha Yoga teachers
I am thrilled to announce 3 wonderful new Hatha Yoga instructors to Yoga 170. Please join me in welcoming Carol Moon, Heather Acomb and Beth Cholette!
All three bring an authentic Hatha Yoga style and have experience teaching yoga in the Rochester community. They will be taking over Molly’s classes at the studio when she moves to Vermont. Rest assured though! Molly has been personally involved in choosing who will take over her classes and I am thrilled to have Carol, Heather and Beth bring you the trusted Hatha Yoga classes that you know and love at our studio.

Parents! Take a 9am or 10am class after the kids head off to school. Teachers! New 4:45pm classes are a nice way to end your day. Morning folks — 8:30am gentle yoga has returned to the schedule! The studio schedule and a few more updates are all within.
